We at Designs Edge Web Development believe in the power of Open Source. Our developers use Linux as thier operating system, we use Apache, Joomla, Ubuntu and more. All too often a brilliant idea dies due to the pressures of outside influences. Developers are discouraged from following their dreams and return to mediocraty because of financial pressure.

Some of the best software in the world is open source, it embraces growth and community, dreams and hopes. Our company is proud to present FOSSIL. The business model is quite simple. A percentage of the profits from our development is returned to the Open Source community. Currently, we have earmarked 10% to be reinvested into open source.
We open source software - we can make money on it - it's only right that we give back to those who have given to us.

In 1998 Designs Edge was founded as a web development company. We have never been a large shop, just 2 or three of us writing websites because we love it. Today - Designs Edge is proud to give something back.
A small web shop, DE doesn't make much money. Our bills are often paid out of pocket. Our developers sometimes strain their walled buying groceries - in other words we are just like most people.
As we have grown and worked over the years, all too often we would read where a project had to be abandoned due to lack of time or funding. Some of these projects had a bright future. It simply isn't right that people cannot follow their dreams.
So, what can we do - we asked ourselves one night, and the idea of FOSSIL© was born. It seems only right that if we use Open Source to develop products that make money for us, open source should get something back.
Currently we don't make a profit at all, but as we do, we are pledging to give a percentage back to Open Source Development. Whether it's software, web development or just plain cool - we intend to help it grow.
Hopefully - there will come a day when programmers can work at home, do what they love, and earn a living persuing their dreams.
Anyways, that's what we think - and are committed to - Giving Back.
